Primary or Lower Level ISEE/Elementary Level SSAT Prep

About Our Primary or Lower Level ISEE/Elementary SSAT Prep

If you're hoping to enroll your child in a private or boarding school for the 4th, 5th, or 6th grade, you might be facing the first major admissions test of his or her academic career: the Lower Level ISEE (for students in 4th and 5th grades) or the Elementary Level SSAT (for students in 3rd and 4th grades).

The ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) and SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test) are the primary exams used by private school admissions all over the US. Though there are key differences between the Primary or Lower Level ISEE and Elementary Level SSAT, both cover math, reading, vocabulary, and writing, and require elementary schoolers to demonstrate some high-level academic skills. This can be a daunting task for many young students — particularly because the stakes are so high. That's where we come in.

Many tutoring companies will assign their youngest and least experienced tutors to work with this level ISEE and SSAT students, under the (incorrect) assumption that younger students are easier to teach. Here at Noodle Pros, we know better. Our Primary or Lower Level ISEE/Elementary Level SSAT tutors specialize in working with elementary schoolers; in fact, many are former classroom teachers who have spent years writing lesson plans and curricula designed to meet every student's needs. Noodle Pros are experts in test prep, but they are also experts in kids. It's a difference our clients can see and feel, and the results speak for themselves.

I consider our Noodle Pro a tremendous resource. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her tutor's rapport and style. The idea of a "tutoring" session can be unappealing to a young child, however my daughter always ended her sessions feeling relieved and positive about her progress.

The results speak louder than words, my son improved from the 43rd percentile to the 93rd percentile on his SSAT scores. Our Noodle Pro consistently got results from the most nervous of test takers, as was the case with my son.

Kalen Lister
Brooklyn, NY

Kalen has a decade of experience working one-on-one and with small groups of students from pre-K through early high school. Her test-prep approach focuses on the learning needs of each student, stimulating their innate curiosity and increasing confidence and ability through a lens of executive functioning. In addition to her work as a private tutor, Kalen is the co-founder of SCENE, a scavenger hunt app that uses word prompts and illustration to help children engage with the physical world around them.

Joanna Loewi
New York, NY

Joanna is a former New York City Teaching Fellow and classroom teacher with a Masters Degree in General and Special Education. She approaches tutoring as both an educator and a mentor, understanding that children who are developing their academic skills also need a strong social and emotional foundation in order to truly excel. Part of her goal as an educator is to bridge this gap by addressing the whole child, providing the tools required to succeed at standardized tests and to navigate the challenges that will inevitably emerge throughout childhood and into adolescence.

Catherine Ko

A certified teacher with over a decade of experience in classrooms and as an elementary admissions expert, Catherine has deep knowledge of the private and charter school application process and the SSAT/ISEE exams.
